OCULA is now offering virtual TeleHealth appointments

With New Zealand being in Stage 4 lockdown due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have closed our physical doors but we are still here for you thanks to technology!

How does this work?

So much of what we are able to diagnose as optometrists is based on what we call a 'case history'. By knowing the right questions to ask to elicit your specific signs and symptoms, often we can make a diagnosis and recommend a management plan just by talking with you. If a physical examination is required, we can talk you through the next steps for making an in-person appointment.

You can book an appointment as usual; choose your preferred date and time via our online booking service or give one of our friendly staff a call.

If you have access to the internet, and video on your smartphone or computer, you can opt for our TeleHealth service. Once you have booked a TeleHealth appointment, we will send you a private link to a virtual consultation with your optometrist. Full instructions on how to use the video calling application will be emailed to you after your appointment is scheduled.  All virtual consultations will be conducted via a secure network so that all appointments are private and confidential, and appointments are not video recorded.

If technology is a barrier, and you would prefer a phone call consultation, this can also be booked via our online booking service or give one of our friendly staff a call.

We are excited to be able to continue to provide you with your eye care needs in a new and exciting way! We will be keeping this service available after the shutdown period, as we strive to increase accessibility to our services for you in the future.

So, head over to our website and book online or you can give us a call:

Wanaka: 03 443 5103

Queenstown: 03 441 4318

Christchurch:  03 356 2379

We look forward to seeing you (and your eyes) very soon!
