Dior

The Paris couture house that has defined feminine elegance since 1946. Available at Ocula in Merivale, Arrowtown and Wanaka.

The House of Dior

Christian Dior opened his couture house at 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris in 1946. The New Look collection of 1947 redefined post-war fashion with a return to femininity, structure and craft, and established the house as one of the most recognised names in luxury.

That founding conviction has held through every creative chapter since: that clothes, and the objects associated with them, should be made with absolute care. The eyewear collection sits within that same tradition. Frames are conceived and developed within a house that understands proportion, seasonal rhythm and the relationship between heritage and modernity.

Dior eyewear is part of Ocula's boutique brands collection, held alongside a small number of carefully selected labels that meet the same standard.

Design With a House Behind It

Dior eyewear carries the visual language of the broader house into every frame. The Oblique jacquard, the cannage diamond motif and the CD hardware appear across the collection as references, not decoration, present with intention and scaled to the frame rather than imposed on it. Silhouettes range from the restrained oval and pilot shapes that anchor the permanent range through to the bolder butterfly and square frames that define each season. The palette works across deep blacks, tortoiseshells and gradient lenses, with pastels and seasonal colourways introduced through capsule collections such as Dioriviera.

The design logic holds across sun and optical. Prescription frames carry the same aesthetic authority as the sun collection. A Dior frame does not change its character when it moves from fashion to function.

Ocula's Dior Selection

Ocula holds a personally curated selection from the Dior range across all three practices. The selection draws from the collections currently available through Dior New Zealand, including styles from the Dior Oblique, Dior Bow, Dior Clover and DiorGlow lines, chosen for clients who approach eyewear as a considered investment rather than an impulse purchase.

The collection is held in-practice at Ocula Merivale in Christchurch, Ocula Arrowtown and Ocula Wanaka, where frames can be handled, tried and assessed properly: against a face, in good light, by people who fit eyewear for a living.

Dior Eyewear at Ocula

Selecting a Dior frame is not a decision that resolves well on a screen. The weight, proportion and finish of a frame at this level only becomes clear when worn, and the difference between a frame that fits and one that is right becomes apparent quickly in person. At Ocula, frame styling consultations and eye examinations are available at all three practices. The optical and selection processes happen in the same appointment, with the full in-practice range available. For clients fitting a Dior frame to a prescription, For clients fitting a Dior frame to a prescription, Ocula pairs each selection with high-performance lenses, ensuring the technical finish maintains the same level of craftsmanship and aesthetic integrity as the house’s design.

DITA

The Los Angeles-founded, Japan-crafted brand that set the standard for independent luxury eyewear. Available at Ocula in Merivale, Arrowtown and Wānaka

The Collections

Flight Series: Titanium frames drawn from post-war aviation design. Structured, muscular silhouettes with considered proportions. The Flight Series includes some of DITA's most recognised sunglass models.

Mach Series: Inspired by high-performance motorsport and vehicle design. Oversized lenses, bold construction and a frame architecture built around the visual language of speed and precision.

Statesman Series: A mid-century optical range in premium acetate. Classic silhouettes with contemporary refinement, designed for prescription wear and daily use.

Featherlight Series: Lightweight optical frames built around wearer comfort. Suited to those who require full-time correction and want a frame that sits quietly in wear.

DITA Lancier: A performance-oriented range with lenses formulated for specific environments: land, sea and air. Polarised options are available. Built for active wear without compromising on finish or optical precision.

Manufacturing Without Compromise

A single DITA framecan involve hundreds of production steps and take several months to complete. That production timeline reflects what is actually required to meet DITA's manufacturing standard, not a figure chosen for effect. Every frame is finished in Japan, in factories operated by the same families across generations, by craftspeople who have spent decades working in eyewear and nothing else.

The materials DITA works with are chosen for performance and longevity. Beta-titanium, Japanese zyl acetate and gold plate detailing are used across the range. Beta-titanium is approximately one third the weight of steel and holds its shape under repeated stress. Japanese zyl acetate is plant-derived, denser than standard acetate and polished by hand to a finish that holds over time.

DITA does not separate design from production. The brand operates its own factory in Japan, which allows direct investment in research and development at the manufacturing stage, an approach uncommon in the industry and central to why DITA frames hold their quality across years of wear.

A Brand Built on Design, Not on Licensing

DITA was founded in Los Angeles in 1995 by John Juniper and Jeff Solorio. The brand began with vintage-inspired silhouettes drawn from the 1950s through to the 1980s and built its reputation by moving production to Japan and investing directly in the craftspeople and factories capable of meeting its standard.

DITA is not a fashion house licence. It does not produce eyewear as an extension of a broader clothing or accessories brand. Eyewear is the entire focus of the company, and its design, research and production resources go exclusively into frames. That independence is reflected in how the product holds up: in weight, finish and fit, across years of wear.

DITA Eyewear at Ocula

Ocula holds a personally curated selection from the DITA range across all three practices. The selection sits within Ocula's boutique brands collection, chosen for clients who treat eyewear as a considered investment rather than a commodity purchase.DITA frames can be handled, tried and assessed in person at Ocula Merivale, Ocula Arrowtown and Ocula Wanaka. For clients fitting a DITA frame to a prescription, Ocula's optometrists and dispensers manage the optical and selection process in the same appointment, with ZEISS lenses available to pair with the frame. For clients focused on frame styling, the team brings clinical precision and aesthetic judgement to the same conversation. A frame at this level warrants that kind of attention, and it is available at all three locations.

Loewe

Loewe eyewear is available exclusively at Ocula across New Zealand, at our practices in Wanaka, Arrowtown and Merivale, Christchurch.

About Loewe

Loewe is a Madrid-founded luxury house established in 1846, with origins in leather craft and a long tradition of material integrity. Under the creative direction of Jonathan Anderson since 2013, the house has repositioned itself as one of contemporary fashion’s most conceptually rigorous labels, one that draws on art, craft and cultural production as active design references rather than decorative gestures.

The eyewear collection reflects the same principles as the broader house. These are frames with sculptural presence, precise proportions and a clear design point of view. Loewe does not produce safe or neutral eyewear. The shapes are architectural, the silhouettes considered and the material quality evident in the hand.

Loewe Sunglasses for Women

The women’s sunglass collection is defined by bold geometry, oversized proportions and a sculptural quality that distinguishes Loewe from the broader luxury market. Frames carry significant visual weight without becoming a costume. They are designed for a wearer who understands the difference between a statement and an affectation.

Recurring design elements include structured temples with three-dimensional detailing, strong acetate presence and silhouettes that sit at the intersection of fashion and architecture. The collection changes seasonally, but the design logic is consistent: every frame makes a clear, intentional choice.

This architectural logic extends into the optical range. Prescription frames carry the same visual authority as the sun collection. The aesthetic holds its integrity in the transition from

Loewe Sunglasses for Men

The men’s sunglass range applies the same design precision in a more contained register. Frames are geometric and considered, built for longevity rather than trend cycles and carry the same craft standard as the women’s collection. Jonathan Anderson’s direction brings an awareness of contemporary art and tailoring codes to the range: these are frames that function as a deliberate extension of a considered wardrobe, not a seasonal accessory purchase.

Why Choose Loewe at Ocula

Loewe eyewear is available exclusively at Ocula.

Frame selection at Ocula is not a self-service process. Ocula’s optometrists and eyewear consultants bring clinical precision and aesthetic knowledge to each appointment. Celine

The French house that built its reputation on restraint. Available only at Ocula in Wanaka, Arrowtown, and Merivale, Christchurch.

Design Philosophy: Architectural Simplicity

Celine frames are built on proportion. Oversized silhouettes are managed with a restraint that stops short of drama. The scale is deliberate, never performative. Thick acetate carries visual weight without becoming heavy-handed and the temple construction, often geometric, quietly signature, is free of the logo repetition that characterises lesser luxury eyewear.

The palette is disciplined. Deep blacks, warm tortoiseshells, and a range of nudes and neutrals that hold across seasons without concession. Branding, where applied, is measured. Celine does not announce itself. It is present, and correct.

This architectural logic extends into the optical range. Prescription frames carry the same visual authority as the sun collection. The aesthetic holds its integrity in the transition from fashion to function.

A French House Defined by Restraint

Celine is a Paris-based luxury fashion house with a design identity built on precision and the deliberate removal of excess. Founded in 1945, it has evolved through several distinct creative chapters, each refining a single consistent principle: that the most confident design is the one that does not need to explain itself.

The eyewear collection carries the same conviction as the broader brand. These are frames conceived within a house that understands proportion, material, and the authority that comes from complete restraint. Celine eyewear is part of Ocula’s boutique brands collection, held alongside a small number of carefully selected labels that meet the same standard.

Ocula’s Celine Selection

Celine eyewear is available exclusively at Ocula across New Zealand.

Ocula holds a personally curated selection from the Celine range. The selection reflects the same standard that defines the wider Ocula collection: design-led, considered, and chosen for clients who understand the difference between a good frame and the right one.The collection is held in-practice at Ocula Wanaka, Ocula Arrowtown, and Ocula Merivale, Christchurch,  where frames can be handled, tried, and assessed properly: against a face, in good light, in the hands of people who fit eyewear for a living.

Experience Celine Eyewear in Practice

Selecting a Celine frame is not a decision that resolves well at a distance. The frames have a physical presence, a weight, a finish, a proportion that becomes clear quickly when worn and remains opaque on a screen.

At Ocula, styling consultations and eye examinations are available at all three practices. Our team brings clinical precision and aesthetic consideration to the same appointment. If you are fitting a Celine frame to a prescription, the optical and selection processes happen together and with the full range available.

Ray-Ban

Ray-Ban is a stalwart brand in the eyewear industry known for its Aviator and Wayfarer shapes. Created by Bausch & Lomb in 1936, Ray-Ban is best known for their sunglasses but also manufactures optical frames. The brand was established in America and sold to Italian luxury group - Luxottica in the late 90s. It has been a staple frame in most peoples’ eyewear collections over the decades.

Ray-Ban sunglasses

Some frames never go out of style - have you heard about the history of the famous Aviator shape? US Army Air Corps Colonel John A. Macready enlisted the help of Bausch & Lomb in 1929, to create sunglasses for pilots in the Navy and Marine Corps. He was concerned about the reduced visibility and sun glares at high altitudes. After a few years of trialling prototypes the Ray-Ban Aviator was patented with anti-glare and impact-resistant lenses. They also added ‘Kalichrome’ lenses, which are designed to sharpen details and minimise haze by filtering out blue light. The Aviator has been a fashion statement ever since!

Another popular frame is the wayfarer - a classic, stylish pair of glasses that is instantly recognisable as part of the Ray-Ban brand! Over the years, Ray-Ban has done an incredible job of keeping up with the latest trending styles that each decade brings - not an easy feat!

About LINDBERG

The brand draws inspiration from its Danish roots and modern style trends, which makes each frame comfortable and lightweight - with frames weighing as little as 1.9 grams.

With over 40 internationally renowned awards, LINDBERG frames are proven to not only win in appearance but also in ensuring your eyesight is well looked after.

The LINDBERG system allows you to choose a pair to purchase off-the-shelf or create an entirely bespoke, made-to-order pair from a multitude of predetermined parts.
